FURTHER DEVELOPMENTS IN THE UNCOVERING OF ILLEGAL ACTIVITY

Thursday, May 28th, 2015

A couple of blogs ago we mentioned that the SIA were looking into illegal practices regarding their licences after a shocking BBC Inside Out programme showed people obtaining qualifications illegally and without proper SIA training.

Now, there’s been a development with the SIA stating that around 129 security guards are having their licences revoked after they have found to have been obtained without the necessary training. Tough exams are needed for applicants to earn SIA licences, but undercover operatives found Ashley Commerce College in Ilford sitting exams for students. The licences that are being revoked are in Door Supervision and Public Space Surveillance (CCTV).

SIA Training

Industry Qualifications is the exam board that awarded the fraudulent qualifications and they have conducted their own investigation, finding, “significant levels of fraudulent activity” which has resulted in them revoking the certification of 251 candidates.

It is a criminal offence to falsify this kind of information and to lie to obtain an SIA licence, without going through the necessary SIA training, and the fraudulent security personnel have had their information passed onto the police.

If you’re interested in becoming part of the private security industry, legally, then here at CSG, we provide recognised and accredited SIA training that upon completion, allows you to apply for your SIA licence. There is no way that you can sustain a career within the security industry without going through the necessary training because, as this investigation shows, you will be found out.
